The Research Technician I will perform standard laboratory procedures in the labs of Drs. Georgopoulos and Morgan. This involves mouse colony management and husbandry including tag and tail, genotyping, euthanasia and tissue harvest. Other duties will include routine molecular biology, histology/immunochemistry and/or flow cytometry in support of projects in cutaneous biology and immunology. This position also requires record keeping and database management and preparation and maintenance of lab reagents and stocks.Send c.v. and statement of interest to bmorgan@mgh.harvard.edu or katia.georgopoulos@mgh.harvard.edu with Research tech in the subject line.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages mouse colony including tagging and tailing, DNA extraction, PCR genotyping, breeding and weaning, and maintains colony records.Supports ongoing projects. This may include performing tissue collection and processing, flow cytometry or FACS sorting, histology and immunohistochemistry, RNA and DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis and PCR.Conduct analysis of results in consultation with PI.Attend weekly laboratory meetings and maintains laboratory notebooks.Will perform other duties as assigned.SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

Must exhibit initiative and be able to work independently when trained.Must be accurate and efficient in performance of routine experiments.Ability to work in a group environment and be of assistance to a number of research projects.Good written and verbal communication skills.EDUCATION:

Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts required.EXPERIENCE:

Lab experience preferred. Molecular biology and/or mouse colony experience is desired but not required. Will train in more advanced techniques.WORKING CONDITIONS:
