This position supports the work of the YMCA of Rome and Floyd County, a leading charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Development Director serves on the CEO’s senior leadership team and provides strategic leadership in financial development to advance the YMCA’s mission through annual giving, major gifts, government and foundation grants, endowment bequests and gifts, capital campaigns, and fundraising events. The Development Director assists the CEO in developing an actively engaged fundraising volunteer board of directors and positions the Y as a community convener and collaborator to address critical social issues.Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor’s degree is preferred.3 to 5 years of experience in development with a proven track record for meeting contributed revenue targets, preferably in the non-profit sector.Entrepreneurial spirit able to take initiative and actively seeks to deepen current donor relationships and to forge new ones.Demonstrated excellence in organizational, managerial, and communication skills.Working knowledge of giving and charitable vehicles.Strong verbal communication skills and demonstrated ability to write clearly and persuasively.Demonstrated ability to prospect, cultivate, and manage relationships.Strong partnership-building skills.Event planning skills.Thorough understanding of all components of a diversified funding base.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.Completion of CPR/First AID/AED training required within 30 days of hire and kept current while employed by the YMCA.
