Valley Beth Shalom’s Early Childhood Center (VBS ECC), a vibrant synagogue program in Encino, is expanding. We are looking for an experienced toddler lead teacher to inspire and care for toddlers ages 24-36 months. Ideal candidates will be energetic, collaborative, innovative, warm, committed to Jewish values, with experience transitioning toddler-aged children, and have a solid background in developmentally appropriate, emergent, and play-based curriculum. Hebrew speaker a plus.This position is part-time. Three mornings a week (Tue, Wed, Thu) from 8:30am-12:30pm.Responsibilities include:

Curriculum planning for toddlers (24-36 months), implementation, documentation and reflectionAssessment of children’s developmental needs and goal-settingOngoing collaboration with teaching teams, administration, Temple staff and familiesCompletion of required health and safety training, including pediatric CPR and first aidCompliance with all local and county professional requirements, including mandatory immunizations, background check, and proof of transcripts documenting successful completion of all required coursework and trainingQualified candidates must possess:

Effective oral and written communicationFlexibility, creativity, and the ability to see the world through children's eyesCuriosity and a joy for life-long learningInfant toddler teacher qualifications must include (per Cal code reg Title 22 101416.2):

Prior to employment, an infant care teacher shall have completed, with passing grades, at least three postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development and three postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units related to the care of infants, at an accredited or approved college or university.After employment, a teacher who has not completed the coursework required shall complete, with passing grades, at least two units each semester or quarter until the education requirements are met.To be a fully qualified infant care teacher, a teacher shall have the following:Completion, with passing grades, of 12 postsecondary semester or equivalent quarter units in early childhood education or child development at an accredited or approved college or university, with at least three of the units related to the care of infants.At least six months of experience in a licensed infant care center or comparable group child care program for children under five years of age.Come join us!
