SOME (So Others Might Eat) provides material aid and comfort to our vulnerable neighbors in the District of Columbia, helping them to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness through programs and services that save lives, improve lives, and help to transform the lives of individuals and families, their communities, and the systems and structures that affect them. Our more than 30 programs throughout the district provide comprehensive services that lead to mental and physical health, continued sobriety, job training, living-wage employment, and affordable housing. in NE Washington DC.Position Description:

The Residential Assistant will provide monitoring and oversight of residential/transitional housing facilities and residents.Required:

HS Degree/GED; 1-3 yrs experience in social services; experience providing services in addictions or mental health treatment.Required License/Certification:

CPR/First Aid; AED; Food Handler's License; Crisis Intervention (Training); Driver's License.Covid-19 Considerations:

Monday - Thursday 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm.Knowledge Skills and Abilities Required:Knowledge of substance abuse and mental health issuesAbility to set professional boundariesConflict resolution and problem solving skillsRelationship building skillsOrganized with an attention to detailAbility to communicate with diverse audiencesAbility to maintain calm in crisis situationsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independentlyDemonstrates professionalism and maintains confidentiality while working with sensitive issuesProgram Operations/Expectations:Perform room checks and hourly house walk-throughsEnsure house chores are completedAssist residents in preparing meals, as neededMonitor resident compliance with rules and regulationsProvide documentation and maintain communication logsRespond to crisis situations or medical emergencies and report to management and on-call staffMonitor resident self-medication during shiftProvide supervision of the facility and residents during assigned shift; maintain safety and security of the facilityProvide assistance to residents with daily living activitiesReports to:
