We seek an applicant for a Postdoctoral research position in Quantum Information Science at Syracuse University (SU) to work on various theoretical and computational projects in the general areas of topology optimization in nanophotonics, magneto-optical characterization of single-photon emitters, and optical refrigeration. The successful candidate will join the research group of Prof. Rodrick Kuate Defo in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. This postdoctoral position is available as early as Fall 2024.QualificationsDoctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or Materials Science. Exceptional candidates from other fields are also welcome to apply.Job Specific QualificationsResearch experience in one of the following areas: (i) topology optimization (ii) single-photon emitters, and (iii) optical refrigeration.Strong computational skills including experience with electronic-structure codes and molecular dynamics simulations, or with Maxwell solvers and nonlinear optimization packages.Highly motivated to work with an interdisciplinary team of students (Graduate and Undergraduate) as well as internal (SU) and external academic and industry collaborators.ResponsibilitiesThe Postdoctoral Researcher will carry out basic and applied research to support sponsored projects and prepare research papers for publication.
