Job Overview:
A law firm located in Washington, DC is seeking a highly motivated and qualified Patent Agent/Tech Advisor with substantive industry experience. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in materials, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field) and have at least one year of law firm experience. Knowledge across a broad range of disciplines within chemical engineering or material science is essential.Duties:Conduct prior art database searches for patentability and freedom to operate analyses.Analyze patent and scientific documents to assist patent attorneys in prosecution, counseling, and litigation.Draft patent applications and responses to office actions.Requirements:At least 1 year of law firm experience.Registered US patent agent or eligible to sit for the USPTO registration exam.Strong technical, written, and verbal communication skills in English.Initiative and ability to learn quickly.Education:Degree in materials, chemical, mechanical, or biomedical engineering (or a related field).Certifications:Must be a registered US patent agent or eligible to take the USPTO registration exam.Job Location:Washington, DCSkills:Broad scientific knowledge in mechanical and/or biomedical engineering.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
