Maranatha Grace Church is a reformed, baptistic, multiethnic church in the greater Fort Lee area of New Jersey. We are located right across the George Washington Bridge from New York City. We exist to make disciples who love God and love our neighbor as we preach Christ, grow in Christ, and make disciples of Christ across every nation and generation. We average approximately 200 in attendance each week.The Pastoral Assistant is accountable to the elders of our church and is primarily responsible for leading our youth and young adult under the day-to-day oversight of the lead and associate pastors. Additionally, he will assist in the preaching and teaching ministries of our church, as well as other assignments related to pastoral administration.RESPONSIBILITIESYouth and Young Adult (65%)Teach MGYouth (20-30 students) each week at our Friday Youth NightsFoster relationships with parents in the discipleship of their teenagers, ensuring consistent communication, transparency, and a safe environmentWork with the associate pastor to develop and lead an ongoing discipleship ministry for the youth and young adults of our churchRecruit and develop a team of volunteers to serve and disciple our youthOrganize Friday Youth Nights and other gatherings/outings where youth can enjoy connecting with peers, learning from mentors, and hearing from God’s word through a message or studyEngage and partner with local campus ministries to provide local church outlets to studentsOrganize and accompany youth for a week at Camp Impact in July, as well as other potential trips and retreatsTeaching and Preaching (25%)Preach 1-2 Sunday sermons per yearTeach bible studies and adult education classes as neededAssist elders with historical research and theological perspectivesAdministration (10%)Assist the MGC staff with various administrative tasksBe ready and willing to step in and support various ministries in needMonitor facility needs and coordinate accordingly with staff and deaconsCommunicate clearly and professionally through written and verbal communicationsREQUIREMENTSCandidates must: 1) aspire to the biblical qualifications of an elder, 2) have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Biblical Studies, Theology, Christian Ministry, or something similar from a like-minded institution, 3) have a humble, teachable, unifying, and supporting spirit, and 4) agree to the church’s documents.On a weekly basis, the Pastoral Assistant will:Attend all regular church gatherings and meetings (Sunday Corporate Worship Gathering, Bible Studies, Sunday School, Discipleship Group, Prayer Meetings, Members Meetings, other events).Attend staff meetingsSupport staff pastors in ministry planning and other forms of pastoral ministryHelp with setting up and tearing downWork under the direct supervision of the staff pastors while also engaging regularly with other elders and deacons.This is a full-time role that includes healthcare and retirement.How To Apply
