Scientist

to join our SIMS group. This is a great opportunity to be trained and gain experience using Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry to conduct analytical tests of organic or inorganic substances. In this role, you will analyze and test new or existing materials to identify their properties and characteristics for the development or improvement of new or existing products. Study the relationship between chemical and physical properties. Work independently to perform the full range of analytical work, including complex tasks. Solve complex and difficult problems. Ensure schedule, budget, and performance requirements are met.Work Schedule evening shift:

The normal work hours for this position are

Monday - Friday, 5:00pm - 2:00am , holidays and weekends as needed, plus additional hours as needed as workload requires. During your training period, your hours will be determined by the department leader.Essential Job Functions:Applies standard and non-standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to carry out relatively complex analytical work to determine the composition, properties, and/or structure of materials.Maintains specified records of test data.Prepares reports on analytical results for customers, including interpretation of results.Provides technical review for other analysts’ reports.Evaluates customer requests, determines testing requirements, and prepares project quotations.Can perform multiple assignments simultaneously.May direct phases of a single revenue-producing project.Protects confidential information and proprietary processes.Handles customer materials and company equipment in a responsible and efficient manner.Is familiar with relevant quality system documents and complies with all system requirements.Other duties as may be assigned.Qualifications

For this position, EAG will not sponsor employment-based visas.Education and Experience:PhD degree in either Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering with experience in materials characterization and surface analysis techniques and equipment. OrMaster's degree in either Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering with 3+ years of experience in materials characterization and surface analysis techniques and equipment. OrBA or BS degree in either Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, or Engineering with 5+ years of industry experience in materials characterization and surface analysis techniques and equipment.Experience in materials characterization and surface analysis such as secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Auger spectroscopy, RBS, AFM, XRD, and FT-IR and with semiconductor materials and/or ancillary technical experience.Job Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:Strong analysis and judgment skills.Able to work with minimal supervision, work individually and as part of a team.Computer literate, high level of accuracy and detail-oriented.Must be able to handle multiple functions at the same time.Maintain good organizational skills.Physical Requirements:The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office or laboratory to access file cabinets, machinery, equipment, etc.Ability to continuously operate a personal computer or lab equipment for extended periods of time (4 or more hours).Physical dexterity sufficient to use hands, arms, and shoulders repetitively to operate a keyboard and other lab equipment, use a telephone, access file cabinets and other items stored at various levels, including overhead.Must be able to remain in a stationary position 90% of the time.Ability to speak and hear well enough to communicate clearly and understandably with sufficient volume to ensure an accurate exchange of information in normal conversational distance, over the telephone, and in a group setting.Learn new tasks, remember processes, maintain focus, complete tasks independently, make timely decisions in the context of a workflow, ability to communicate with visitors, ability to complete tasks in situations that have a speed or productivity quota.The essential physical and mental requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
