Position Title : Associate/Full ProfessorDepartment : 2240|MarketingResponsibilities :The B.I. Moody III College of Business Administration (MCOBA) invites applications for The E. Gerald "T-Boy" and Martha Herbert BORSF Eminent Scholar Endowed Chair in Professional Sales. This position will be filled at a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the associate or full professor level. The appointment will begin in Fall 2025. The position is open on the Lafayette, LA campus.The Chair will play a pivotal role in fostering collaboration and creating new research and scholarship opportunities in various areas of professional sales, such as customer relationship management, negotiations, and sales management. They will also develop continuing education and training opportunities, enhance academic offerings, and work closely with faculty and business leaders to advance the sales profession.

The Chair will also be expected to contribute to the University’s, College’s and Department’s mission by participating in activities such as:

Leverage the existing Northwestern Mutual Sales & Research Lab in establishing a research forum; this forum will create an interface between Louisiana sales organizations and research issues that are currently impacting the efficiency and effectiveness of Louisiana businesses.Proposal development to secure competitive externally funded grants at the state and national levels.Collaborate with UL Lafayette faculty in his/her department, with other research units on campus, and with faculty from other universities in Louisiana and throughout the nation to further research in the area of professional sales.Publish in reputable peer-reviewed journals and respected trade periodicals. The Chair is expected to develop a strong record of publications and involve other faculty members in the College and University in research collaborations.Present scholarly research at state, regional, national, and international conferences to expand the reputation of the University and state in the area of professional sales.

The Chair holder is expected to lead in all aspects of further development of the UL Lafayette sales program. Examples of expected contributions include:Participate in national and international sales competitions and assist in preparing students for professional sales competitions.Develop a strategic plan for the sales program, which includes establishing a sales institute/center to participate in national sales education organizations.Actively build research partnerships with industrial partners that will generate revenue for maintaining and expanding the department’s sales-related efforts.Develop educational and training opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students and local sales professionals to establish a base of highly qualified employees for the high-demand professional sales workforce.Develop strong ties and partnerships with local industries and business leaders.

The Chair is also expected to collaborate in recruiting undergraduate students to obtain a concentration or minor in professional sales and to mentor them regarding the value of participating on the sales team. The Chair is expected to work with College leadership and faculty to assess the feasibility of offering a major in professional sales and to take the lead in developing such a curriculum.

The MCOBA is one of the largest colleges on campus. We offer a Master of Science in Accounting, an MBA, and eight undergraduate majors. MCOBA maintains AACSB accreditation and separately for its Accounting program.Carnegie Foundation recently classified the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as an R1 institution. The University remains committed to maintaining this classification by supporting research and developing graduate programs.Lafayette serves as the hub of Acadiana, a region of South Louisiana known for Cajun and Creole culture and some of the best food, music, and hospitality in the country. Qualifications:Candidates should have an earned doctorate (Ph.D. / DBA) in Marketing from a nationally recognized and regionally accredited AACSB-institution with an established record of or demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research in the area of sales. The candidate should have an outstanding publication record, demonstrate exemplary and innovative teaching skills, and have a strong track record of success in coaching sales teams and/or leading professional sales programs.
