at a glance...This position is a technical and project management role, responsible for commercializing projects across the Canada portfolio. This candidate should demonstrate packaging leadership and have a consistent record of performing work plans and contributing to results in a variety of settings. This includes analyzing data, drawing conclusions, documenting, and presenting results. Shown communication, teamwork, and people development skills are critical in this role, which operates in a cross-functional environment. You'll be responsible for not only packaging development, but collaborating with a dedicated team and cross-functional peers to execute projects, build a pipeline of projects based on feasibility, and identify enablers for future opportunities. In addition, you will be consulted for troubleshooting, collaborating with manufacturing facilities, quality and equipment vendors.The candidate will report functionally to the R&D manager and to the dedicated project team lead, who will arrange priorities and tasks required to commercialize the initiatives.What's on the menu?

The role includes translating the consumer/business need into products that can be commercialized in a fast-paced test market environment.Work closely with team lead to identify near and long-term opportunities. Complete mid/low complexity projects in the near term, that includes repacking and alternate packages that are within capability of existing manufacturing lines.Build strategy and long-term pipeline that offers unique package/product that unlocks NSV and/or cost efficiencies.Become subject matter expert for retailer requirements, distribution and instore displays and lab testing/requirements.Manage one Sr. Scientist packaging developer that may be in a remote location.Lead Customer engagement, including supply chain audits, development of pipelines, presentations.Independently lead packaging development and commercialization of material and packaging systems to deliver against short and long-term business objectives.Manage technical timelines, provide timely communication, raise issues and risks, and develop contingency plans demonstrating strong project management skills.Coordinate and conduct functional testing including lab testing, plant trials, package qualifications.Responsible for identifying, defining, and solving technical packaging challenges.Analyze data, drawing conclusions, documenting, communicating results, with a clear link to business results and path to commercialization.Build, collaborate and coordinate partnerships with design & innovation agencies, material suppliers, external manufacturers, internal factories and OEM's to identify efficient strategies and ways to manufacture desirable customer formats.Provide technical subject matter expertise in packaging materials, applications, testing and problem-solving.Strategic project influence in collaboration with operations and marketing.Understand and be fluent in day to day routines and systems for commercialization.Recipe for Success - apply now if this sounds like you!

BS, MS, or PhD in Packaging, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.Minimum 10 yrs packaging development experience in the food or consumer products industry.Self-starter with ability to work autonomously.Desirable attributes - Management experience, familiarity with Canada/Mount Royal business, familiarity with Meals and Sauces products and network.Proven ability to lead and complete technical complex packaging projects.Significant experience with corrugated, paperboard, pallet optimization as well as familiarity with rigid plastics, flexible and semi-rigid films, tray sealing.Excellent communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills.Able to run multiple assignments/tasks concurrently with the ability to prioritize work.Ability to apply processes and improve with recommendations where needed.Ability to speak English is required, French speaking is a plus.Ability to travel to Canada and willingness to travel up to 30%.About UsKraft Heinz is a global food company with a delicious heritage.
