Position Description

Sprezzatura seeks an MS Exchange Server Help Desk Technician to join our expanding team. The MS Exchange Server Help Desk Technician is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization’s Exchange Server environment. This includes ensuring the availability, performance, and security of the email system. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of MS Exchange Server, along with experience in managing large-scale email environments. The Technician documents, tracks, and monitors problems using applicable systems and tools. Responds to telephone, email, and online requests for technical support. In addition, the Technician may coordinate with other teams or departments to resolve user problems for the Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office (VACO) Information Technology Operation Support Services.

Roles/Responsibilities

Exchange Server Management

Install, configure, and maintain MS Exchange Server environments.

Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance.

Apply patches, updates, and service packs as necessary to maintain system integrity and security.

Perform regular backups and restoration of Exchange database.

User Management

Manage user accounts, mailboxes, distribution groups, and permissions.

Provide support for email-related issues for end users.

Implement and manage email archiving, retention policies, and compliance requirements.

Security

Implement and manage security measures for email systems, including spam and virus protection.

Monitor and respond to security incidents related to the email system.

Conduct regular security audits and assessments of the Exchange environment.

Collaboration and Support

Work closely with other IT team members to ensure seamless integration of email systems with other applications and services.

Provide support for mobile device management (MDM) related to email services.

Assist in the development and implementation of disaster recovery plans for the email system.

Documentation and Reporting

Maintain comprehensive documentation of the Exchange environment, including configurations, procedures, and changes.

Generate reports on system performance, usage, and security incidents.

Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for routine tasks and incident response.

Qualifications

High school/GED required.

Must possess the Department of Veterans Affairs Tier 2/MBI security clearance or be able to obtain and maintain clearance. ** Please note: Candidates who currently possess the required clearance will be considered as priority**

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience managing MS Exchange Server environments.

Certification in Microsoft Exchange Server or related technologies is preferred.

Proficiency in MS Exchange Server 2016/2019 and Office 365.

Strong understanding of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and networking concepts.

Experience with PowerShell scripting for automation and management tasks.

Knowledge of email security best practices and tools (e.g., anti-spam, anti-virus).

Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Attention to detail and a proactive approach to managing tasks.

Location: Washington DC (on site)

Veteran Preference: Yes

Citizenship/Security: Citizen/Green Card. Must be able to hold a federal security clearance.
