New Orleans, LASummarySenior Research Scientists are individuals holding a Ph.D. or other terminal degree who play a significant role in enabling, facilitating, and promoting research programs through collaborative and collegial interactions with faculty, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, and staff. The rank of Senior Research Scientist is a staff appointment and the most senior level within the research scientist job hierarchy. A Senior Research Scientist may apply their effort entirely to research or to a combination of research, training, and lab managerial activities.Required Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesTechnical skills and competencies to conduct quantifiable, meaningful research.Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to interact with individuals of diverse backgrounds at all levels internal and external to the organization.Ability to work collaboratively as a positive, contributing member of a team.Ability to keyboard and utilize various standardized word processing, spreadsheet preparation, and presentation software.Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.Ability to prioritize work, performing assignments with minimal supervision.Required Education and/or ExperienceTerminal Degree (Ph.D./M.D./D.V.M., etc.)10 years of experience in a relevant research area, and evidence of scholarly work (e.g. scientific publications, scientific grant contributions, etc.)Preferred QualificationsPh.D. in Bioengineering or a related field.3 years of experience in research and development of microphysiological systems.Work experience in an academic environment.More than 10 years’ research experience.Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.Experience managing research budgets and/or personnel.Compensation InformationThis position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade UNCLASSIFI.
