Job Title:
Shared Services Director
Purpose of Job:
The Shared Services Director is responsible for overseeing payroll and accounts payable processes, ensuring they are executed with proper internal controls and appropriate levels of review. This role involves identifying performance obstacles, recommending process improvements, and focusing on continuously enhancing efficiency and service delivery. The Director will develop team members, determine future hiring needs, and build effective cross-departmental relationships. Additionally, the role includes driving the resolution of escalated issues, implementing solutions, and maintaining positive relationships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide general management and support for payroll and accounts payable processes.
Coordinate the escheatment process for stale dated checks, ensuring timely submission to the state.
Manage the City’s Travel Advance process, including issuance of advances and reconciliation of expense reports.
Ensure timely distribution of 1099s and W-2s annually.
Direct the preparation of information needed to respond to Open Records Requests as needed.
Develop the year-end accounts payable accrual.
Manage a team of 18-20 staff, including 3 direct reports.
Provide support to internal and external auditors.
Demonstrate ability to drive process improvement, manage multiple priorities, and meet firm deadlines and schedules.
Lead project implementation and perform ad hoc duties as needed.
Minimum Training and Experience Required:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution.
Minimum of five years of experience in accounting, payroll, and staff management.
Experience with process re-engineering and change management.
Strong analytical and facilitation skills.
Ability to provide objective input and facilitate positive change.
Knowledge of Oracle financial modules and city government operations is a plus.

$27.00 - $47.00 per hour
