Illinois State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor or associate professor in History-Social Sciences Education beginning August 16, 2025. Candidates must be able to teach undergraduate and graduate level history courses in their history specialty; specialization is open, but world history, European history, and nineteenth-century US history are preferred.Candidates will be responsible for teaching courses in our History-Social Sciences Education program that focus on history and social sciences high school teaching methods. A conferred Ph.D. in history or closely related field by the starting date of the appointment is required. Candidates must also have secondary school teaching experience.Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of faculty, staff, and students and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity on campus are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to collaborate within the program, with practicing high school teachers, and with school district partners. State law mandates demonstrable oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for teaching positions.Illinois State University is a coeducational, residential university with around 21,000 students; the History Department has the largest number of majors in the state, with about 500 full-time undergraduate and graduate students.Interested candidates should complete an online application for posting number 519324 at
