This position is responsible for supervision of the banquet bar staff and ensuring banquet events meet or exceed client expectations. Ensures the banquet department operates effectively, including adherence to health regulations and local liquor laws. Works side-by-side with employees to ensure achievement of overall financial results, guest satisfaction, and positive employee experience.Responsibilities:

Effectively leads banquet bartenders to ensure all beverage service standards are met, including providing training, coaching, feedback, and recognition.Conducts pre-shift meetings with banquet bartenders to ensure client needs and employee responsibilities are communicated and understood.Attends appropriate Banquet meetings and communicates effectively with all staff to ensure client needs are met.Effectively oversees banquet housepersons and bartenders to ensure proper set up and take down per function specifications. Coordinates efforts to move mobile bars as necessary.Accurately and efficiently takes, prepares, and delivers beverage orders according to recipe and CSM/brand standards. Oversees preparation and delivery of beverage orders by banquet bartenders.Analyzes quality issues, identifies training needs, and ensures implementation to improve results.Ensures responsible sale/consumption of alcohol in compliance with state and local liquor laws, including monitoring guest consumption and enforcing proper procedures for checking photo identification for age verification.Safely and efficiently closes down bar stations at the end of shifts/events.Transfers dirty glassware to the dish room, polishes clean glassware, and leads effort to ensure completion of all required side work.Completes beginning and end of shift inventories and all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.Guest/Client Service:

Works side-by-side with banquet bartenders and sets standard of exemplary service to drive guest/client satisfaction and Guest Satisfaction Survey and Event Satisfaction Survey scores.Ensures service standards are upheld per CSM, brand, local, state, and federal regulations.Meets with client contact to develop rapport and confirm event details. Facilitates change requests to function specifications per client request.Appropriately resolves guest/client concerns and minimizes impact of issues to event operations. Escalates concerns and issues to hotel leadership as appropriate.Builds relationships with clients to maximize repeat business.Engages in suggestive selling as appropriate to maximize revenue.Financial & Cash Handling:

Reconciles cash drawers and accurately completes daily financial reports, including cash handling, credit card transactions, and tips.Ensures all financial transactions are properly recorded and submits financial summaries to management, highlighting any discrepancies or irregularities.Follows and enforces CSM and brand cash handling/point-of-sale procedures.Helps manage labor expenses by ensuring proper staffing levels given event specifications and timelines.Manages and maintains company equipment and assets.Safety:

Ensures banquet staff work in a safe and appropriate manner.Responsible for maintaining sanitation and cleanliness of banquet workspaces, equipment, and storeroom.Ensures a clean and safe work environment and follows all CSM procedures for guest/employee incidents.Maintains knowledge of hotel’s emergency plans and procedures.Leadership:

Promotes collaboration and positive, professional work environment.Appropriately resolves employee concerns and minimizes impact of issues to event operations. Escalates concerns to hotel leadership/human resources as appropriate.Aligns all behaviors with CSM’s Company Values and sets a positive example for others.Adheres to all CSM Standard Operating Procedures.Competencies/Skills Required:

1+ years of banquet bar captain or similar experience required. Must be detail oriented, have ability to communicate effectively with all levels within and outside the organization, and be able to problem-solve with employees and guests. Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Must demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to speak, understand, and write English in order to meet guest’s needs and complete required paperwork.Education:

High School diploma or GED required. Serve Safe, TIPS or CARE beverage service certification or the ability to obtain certification is required.Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50 pounds consistently throughout shift, and up to 100 pounds with assistance on an occasional basis. Requires ability to work extended hours based on business needs, with physically demanding responsibilities such as walking, standing, carrying, and moving throughout the extended shift.Competencies/Skills Preferred:

Prefer 2+ years banquet bar captain or similar experience in a hotel setting of similar brand or distinction. Prefer banquet experience with venue of similar size, volume, and reputation for focus on client satisfaction.
