In the role of Environmental Scientist I, we'll count on you to:

Work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects as they relate to water resources, transportation and development projects.Work under the supervision of mid-level and senior environmental scientists and water resource engineers.Take responsibility for assisting with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments, and other environmental compliance documentation.Assist senior and mid-level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data.Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference given to local candidates.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to complete field site visits and record natural resource data in conditions that include sloped terrain, thick vegetation, and inclement weather.Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance.Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone, and email.Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments.Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts.Must have a valid Driver's License.Must be able to operate a motor vehicle day or night.Travel may be required at times.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field.Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements.Excellent writing and communication skills.MS Office experience.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must.
