Position Summary:

The Site Safety Manager will work to ensure compliance with all safety and environmental procedures to assist in the achievement of ensuring a safe work environment for all employees. Identify, eliminate and control hazardous conditions on a project that may lead to injury and/or property damage using job specific safety standards and best management practices.

Primary Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

Establish and foster a positive safety culture on the jobsite

Ensure compliance with all safety rules and procedures as required by Commonwealth policies and the jobsite requirements.

Perform documented field audits on a daily basis or as required by the jobsite.

Advise Corporate Safety Manager of any safety concerns at the site and potential solutions for abatement.

Conduct necessary safety training and maintain training records for site employees

Conduct accident investigations, prepare investigation reports and recommend preventive measures to avoid recurrence for use by Corporate Safety Director and Senior Management

Work with medical services personnel to provide and coordinate emergency medical services required for injured employees

Arrange and organize safety promotion activities

Communicate with regulatory agencies such as OSHA and MSHA when necessary and with direction from Corporate Safety Director

Keep apprised of developments in local and state safety laws that may apply to the specified site

All other duties as assigned and required

Required Qualifications:

Must have valid driver’s license and have a safe driving record

OSHA instructor certification, CHST or equivalent credential preferred

Strong leadership skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public

Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Superior communication skills; written and verbal

Ability to work on a team and build working relationships within all levels of the organization

Ability to perform without supervision

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university

Three to five years minimum related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
