Bauer Underground, Inc.

is looking for a well-qualified Safety Manager to lead our growing family of companies’ existing safety program. The Safety Manager is responsible for leading company environmental, health and safety programs and procedures for all business units and facilities within the Bauer family of companies. This position is responsible for review, development and compliance with company safety policies, industry regulatory requirements, including reporting. Document and manage accident data compilation and investigations, abatement, record keeping, safety communication and awareness, safety programs and jobsite and facility audits. This position can be based in Lincoln or Omaha and would include regular travel to all markets within the company’s footprint. Overnight travel would be limited. This position would also work with the local leadership resources at each of the Bauer companies to design, implement and monitor safety programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee the development/implementation of safety orientation, training, toolbox talks.

Review DRAs (Daily Risk Assessments) to ensure accuracy and participates.

Provide technical expertise for high-risk safety issues as needed.

Review trend analysis reports to present at operations and safety meetings.

Document and manage injury reporting and accident investigations to ensure that corrective actions are appropriate.

Coordinate with Human Resources to manage worker’s compensation claims management process.

Review internal and external loss reports.

Ensure insurance carriers are providing optimal claims service.

Regularly visit jobsites to ensure safe work practices are being followed.

Inspect the shop/warehouse facility to identify safety and health risks.

Monitor compliance with company SPPs (Safety Policies and Procedures).

Maintain accurate recording and reporting of OSHA 300 logs.

Ensure safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred.

Minimum OSHA 30-hour construction training; OSHA 500 Authorized Trainer preferred.

CPR/First Aid Certified.

Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety.

At least one of the following certifications: CSP/ASP/CHST.

Working familiarity with MSHA.
