The Department of Health Sciences at the University of Central Florida invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-earning assistant professor position. The expected start date is August 2025. Candidates with expertise in epidemiology, public health, and/or implementation science are encouraged to apply.The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a productive line of research; publish in highly-ranked, peer-reviewed journals in their discipline; pursue and secure external funding to support their research program; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; mentor students in research and provide them with sound advice for professional development; participate in internal and external professional service activities; and demonstrate collegiality in all aspects of faculty engagement. Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential. The teaching load for this position is 2/2.The Department of Health Sciences in the College of Health Professions and Sciences (CHPS) at the University of Central Florida (UCF) is the home to 19 full-time faculty, approximately 3300 undergraduate students in the major and about 400 students in the minor. We offer an undergraduate degree in Health Sciences with two tracks, Pre-Clinical and Health Promotion, and a newly created Master of Science degree in Health Promotion and Behavioral Science. The Department of Health Sciences is recognized for its high quality of educational offerings and growing research impact.Minimum Qualifications:Ph.D., DrPH, or ScD in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or related applicable field with additional epidemiology training (i.e., an MPH with an emphasis on epidemiology) from an accredited institution conferred at the time of application.Evidence for establishing an independent, extramurally funded research program.Demonstrated interest in teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.Commitment to health promotion, behavioral/social sciences, public/population health.Preferred Qualifications:Demonstrated experience writing and submitting grants for external funding.Research emphasis in epidemiology, implementation science, population health science, and/or translational research as applied to the prevention, clinical treatment and/or management of chronic diseases and health disparities as demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals, collaboration on funded research (or demonstrated potential for securing external funding).Teaching experience in epidemiology as instructor of record.Additional Application Materials Required:UCF requires all applications and supporting documents be submitted electronically through the Human Resources employment opportunities website.
