whose chief responsibility is to work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education to teach Middle School Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1. As a member of the Middle School faculty, this instructor acts as an advisor as well.Essential Job Functions:The Math Teacher works within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education to teach students in pre-algebra and Algebra 1 curriculum.The Math Instructor serves as an advisor to a small group of students following those students all through their middle school experience. An advisor is responsible for daily prayer, schedule communications, mentoring and academic progress, along with parent teacher conference and communications.As a member of the Middle School faculty, this teacher is responsible for:Instructing math / pre-algebra and Algebra 1 for middle school studentsCurriculum formation and evaluationStudent assessmentWorking as an active and collaborative member of grade teams and other middle school faculty membersMaintaining current with the most recent pre-algebra and Algebra 1 pedagogyAligning with other math instructors in Middle School and other divisions - Primary School, and Lower School and Middle School for vertical curriculum coordination.Parent communication and education concerning student performance and progressA Successful Candidate will:Demonstrate good organization and attention to detailHave excellent communication skills with service orientationBe highly motivated, ethical, and eager to learnPrioritize and multi-task effectivelyEnjoy working both independently and as a member of a teamContinuously strive for process improvement and quality outcomesHave worked teaching small groups of studentsQualities and Requirements:Bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate required; master’s degree preferred2 years’ experience teaching middle school mathTo ApplyApply directly at the School's website (www.shschicago.org) in the Career Opportunities section, submitting a cover letter and resume.Sacred Heart Schools is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate.
