Overview
NV5 is currently seeking an Analyst to support the Land Cover group in producing various land use and land cover datasets. The Analyst should be comfortable working both individually and as part of a team to support data production workflows using tools such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, SQL Server, and cloud environments. Familiarity with vector and raster geospatial data should be strong enough to support finalization of project deliverables.
Communication both internally and externally is required. Internally, an Analyst will coordinate closely with the technical leaders and project managers towards the completion of project requirements and provide technical support, quality control, and training for technicians. Externally, an Analyst should communicate in a professional manner with clients and/or partners to support the sharing of data insights.
The Analyst will also work toward identifying and developing process improvements and efficiencies.
Work Environment:
Location: NV5 Regional Office in Portland, OR; Corvallis, OR; or Sun Prairie, WI
This position requires working in an office setting (home office or NV5 office) in front of a computer; there is no fieldwork component to this job.
Travel: Less than 10% of the time

Responsibilities
Works independently with minimal oversight
Completes tasks on time
Identifies issues, brings these to the attention of appropriate team members, and helps develop and implement solutions
Identifies efficiencies, brings these to the attention of appropriate team members, and helps implement
Adheres to the completion of all steps in standard workflows
Multitasks across several projects; if work balance becomes misaligned, brings this to the attention of appropriate managers for resolution
The ability to perform repetitive tasks for consecutive periods of time
Assists in problem solving and workflow automation
Assists in procedural development of workflows, methods, and data reporting
Edits, transforms, and loads (ETLs) data from source files to standardized database templates
Rigorous quality control
Preparation of deliverables
Supports archiving of final project data
Attends trainings and meetings relating to job requirements
Uses best practices to train technicians and senior technicians
Provides constructive feedback
Supports team with leadership skills in small groups
Tasks and creates work for technicians as needed
Coordinates and collaborates regularly with the technical leaders, project managers and project team members on progress
Comfortable working in an office setting in front of a computer

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience
6+ months of technician or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in a professional work environment
2+ years of analysis experience working within GIS software
Proficiency in MS Office Suite
Ability to read maps, understand coordinate systems, perform raster and vector calculations and make conversions between formats
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with photo interpretation of aerial imagery
Experience with Land Use Land Cover geospatial datasets
Experience with database design and/or working in a distributed database environment
Experience in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, etc.
Experience communicating with clients or other external stakeholders
Experience creating geospatial metadata
