Job Requisition ID: R-10216The base salary range for this position is dependent upon experience and location, ranging from $122,699 to $153,374.Education & Experience Required:Bachelor’s Degree (EHS, Engineering, or Environmental Engineering preferred) with a minimum of seven years relevant Environmental, Health, and Safety experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.Exceptional knowledge and understanding of pertinent federal, state and local regulatory codes including DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, NFPA, EPA, and NESC.Skills/Abilities:Knowledge of EHS regulations for utility industry.Knowledge of OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and/or VPP Management System standards.Demonstrated project/program management skills including highly developed skills for defining and prioritizing product/project features.Ability to perform various safety analyses to influence the design for safety such as: Preliminary Hazard List, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Subsystem and System Hazards Analyses, Fault Tree Analysis, Software System Safety Analysis, Operating & Support Hazard Analysis, Safety Requirements Criteria Analysis, and perform Hazardous Materials Management to minimize HAZMAT within the product.Knowledge and experience with data systems including SAP, GIS, and Cintellate/EHS 360.A clear understanding of the whole value chain and the key processes within each business.Ability to operate and positively influence at all levels in the organization and with external stakeholders.Ability to devise practical solutions to complex and risk-based problems or challenges.Demonstrated track record of moving projects from concept to evaluation phase rapidly.Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.Able to analyze complex information, distill salient items, and create appropriate action plans. Strong interpersonal, communication, organization, and follow-through skills.Proficient technical writing & communication.Must be capable of using proactive interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with all levels of employees within the company, as well as outside consultants/contractors.Ability to operate in multi-Opco, multi-union environments for both gas and electric.Willingness to obtain further certifications and ongoing education.Demonstrated ability to coordinate with industry professionals across the company.Formal EHS Certifications preferred (CSP, SMS, CHMM, ASP, CIH, or CUSP).OSHA 500/510 Course Completion Preferred.Experience with Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) preferred.Ability to travel domestically routinely, up to 50%, and occasional international travel.JOB SUMMARY:Scope of Work - Main duties, settings, geography, reporting relationships, other relationships:Manage a dispersed team of EHS professionals to ensure that operating units are in compliance with a variety of federal, state, and local laws, OSHA/EPA, and state regulations and related requirements. Includes licensing and compliance with all related laws, regulations, and other applicable requirements.MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversees staff across multiple divisions/Operating Companies to ensure operating units are in compliance with all appropriate local, state, and federal regulations.Manages Compliance Programs and Departmental Personnel to support and ensure overall Company compliance with all applicable environmental, health, safety, industrial hygiene, and compliance training related laws, regulations, standards, license conditions, and best management practices.Ensure Company compliance for air pollution control, waste management, waste water discharges, chemical and oil propane storage, PCB management, underground storage tanks, SPCC, RCRA, TSCA, and wetland management, etc.Owns and delivers on local risk reduction strategy, by partnering with operational customers to identify risks and implement solutions.Implement EHS Management System (ISO 14001 & 45001) requirements and verify management and employee compliance with the organization’s safety management system, health and safety policies/procedures, and all government regulations.Interfaces with EHS consultants and subcontractors for studies, clean-ups, waste disposal, training, etc.Represent the organization and participate on various safety and industry associations or committees. Consult with external sources, colleagues, and functional area experts to determine best practices and apply them in a cost-effective manner.Provide support to distributed customers (operating units).Reviews site inspections and company audits.Leads the investigation and reporting of significant EHS incidents including fatalities.Track, summarize, and plan improvements to the Company’s performance on safety, health, and related matters.Performs statistical analysis and modeling. Assists in preparing regulatory compliance reports to management.Establishes working relationships with union officials.
