Neuroscience InstitutePosition Summary:

Morehouse School of Medicine’s Neuroscience Institute is seeking a post-doctoral fellow to join their team. Under the general guidance of the Principal Investigator (Dr. Meller), the incumbent will be responsible for independently designing, conducting and analyzing experiments related to the lab’s areas of interest, as well as provide training of staff/students as needed. The incumbent will focus their analysis of multiomic datasets generated from a cohort study of patients with varying cardiovascular risk.

*This position is funded by an NIH grant and the position is for two years, in the first instance.Minimum Qualifications:A doctoral degree (PhD or MD) in molecular biology, genomics, cell biology, genetics or other relevant areas of biomedical sciences is required.Peer-reviewed publications in internationally recognized journals.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with Linux-based packages for analysis of genomic data, and Python packages for GPU accelerated analysis.Job Duties:Serve as a senior, top-level contributor in research activities, under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator.Independently manage research projects, from inception to completion and reporting.Develop new research/experimental areas, including potential research projects dependent on the main goals of the lab (with permission and consultation from the Principal Investigator).Responsible for designing and performing research experiments, collecting and analyzing data produced.Present data in the form of weekly updates and other formats (including but not limited to scientific conferences and publications).Develop complex techniques, and teach these procedures as needed.Supervise any students assigned to help with various research project tasks.Provide consultation and expertise on other complex projects and is considered to be a high-level scientist.Provide training and mentoring to students working in the lab, providing conceptual and technical training.Apply for grant funding of independent projects, as applicable.Pre-Employment/Employment Requirements:
