$60,858.48 – $64,592.97The Liberal Arts Department of the Kansas City Art Institute (KCAI), a national leader in visual arts education, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Liberal Arts with a specialty in fiction writing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate how their teaching and writing interests intersect with and expand our current curricula. We are particularly interested in those who have an additional interest in teaching nonfiction, and who may wish to participate in the production of our two annual student publications, including the AWP award-winning literary arts journal, Sprung Formal.The successful candidate will be an active and supportive participant in the education of studio artists and designers, joining a Liberal Arts Department that houses a robust Creative Writing Program, mentoring dedicated creative writing majors and double-majors, and teaching students campus-wide. This is a tenure-track position that begins August 2025. We welcome applicants who would contribute to our commitment to these goals.Essential Functional Responsibilities:This position requires a 3/3 load, teaching first-year core liberal arts courses, as well as upper-level specialized courses in literature and fiction writing. Class size is small, with maximums of 15 or 20.
