Data Scientist

to perform data and computer science analysis in support of customer operations.

Primary Location:

Annapolis Junction, MD

Secondary Locations:

Augusta, GA, San Antonio, TX, Oahu, HI, Various locations

Skills and Experience You'll Bring:

Experience creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering etc.Coding knowledge and experience with various languages: Python, Java, C, C++Experience as a Data Scientist working to support single or multiple domain areasKnowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques.

Specific Experience Preferred:

Experience in Data Processing: Data management and curation, data description and visualization, workflow and reproducibility.Experience in Modeling, Inference, and Prediction: Data modeling and assessment, domain-specific consideration.Ability to use analytic modeling, statistical analysis, programming, and/or another appropriate scientific method, develop and implement qualitative and quantitative methods for characterizing, exploring, and assessing large datasets in various states of organization, cleanliness, and structure that account for the unique features and limitations inherent in National Agency data holdings.Ability to translate practical mission needs and analytic questions related to large datasets into technical requirements and, conversely, assist others with drawing appropriate conclusions from the analysis of such data.

Degree Requirement:

Degree must be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, or Computer Science.

Education and Experience:Entry level positions require an Associate's degree plus 7 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree and 5 years, or a Master's Degree plus 3 years of relevant experience. Higher positions require up to and including an Associate's degree plus 13 years of relevant experience, a Bachelor's degree and 11 years of relevant experience OR a Master's Degree and 9 years of relevant experience.

Pay Range:

$160,000-$240,000The BTS pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Our approach to crafting offers considers various factors to establish an equitable and competitive compensation package. These considerations include, but are not limited to, the extent and intricacy of the role's responsibilities, the candidate's educational background, their work experience, and the specific competencies crucial for success in the role.
