OverviewThe High Throughput Bioscience (HTB) Center at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital under Director and St. Jude Faculty Member Dr. Taosheng Chen, seeks a

Senior Scientist

with automation expertise (hardware and software) to support high throughput screenings for drug discovery projects.The ideal candidate is familiar with automated high throughput screening and associated instrumentation, data analysis and quality control; and capable of maintaining/upgrading automation infrastructure and the data analysis software stack to ensure seamless hardware/software integration and functioning. The Senior Scientist - Automation reports to the Director of HTB Center; develops complex methods and protocols to maximize automation capabilities; collaborates with other automation staff, assay development and HTS experts to optimize workflow and enhance productivity; and interacts with informatic scientists and compound managers to build a fully integrated data and automation pipeline. The HTB Center consists of those with advanced training in biology, chemistry, and engineering who work together on target validation, assay development, laboratory automation, high-throughput and high-content screenings (up to 650K small molecules and genome-scale siRNAs), large-scale data processing, compound mechanism-of-action studies, and management of scientific collaborations.

Minimum Education and/or Training:Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is requiredMinimum Experience:Ten (10) years relevant post-degree work experience is requiredEight (8) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degreeSix (6) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhDPreferred ExperienceAutomated high-throughput screening and instrumentation (hardware); HTS data processing and use of command line interfaces on Windows and Linux environments (software).Interacting with SQL databases such as Oracle; maintaining computer networks; software integration and data-pipelining; developing and implementing automated laboratory processes including methods for automated liquid handlers; computer languages, such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, and C#.CompensationIn recognition of certain U.S. state and municipal pay transparency laws, St. Jude is including a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This is an estimate offered in good faith and a specific salary offer takes into account factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $104,000 - $186,160 per year for the role of Senior Scientist - Automation.St. Jude is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
