We have an immediate opening for a

Principal Environmental Engineering

working onsite Monday to Friday with typical business hours in

Texas City, Texas

(~3-5 days) and

Pasadena, Texas

(~1-2 days). This is a multimedia environmental field support position responsible for coordinating environmental compliance activities for Air Products facilities and will be based in Texas City, TX (Houston area). Able to travel to visit facilities as required for compliance purposes (25%).

Responsibilities:

Maintain and improve programs across all environmental media ( air/water/waste/drinking water ) to comply with environmental regulations, permit requirements, internal policies and standards for assigned facilities primarily in Texas (2-3 larger sites).

Develop, maintain, and improve environmental compliance tools, monitoring, sampling, and testing programs to demonstrate compliance with regulatory and permit limits for assigned facilities.

Direct and train facility personnel in environmental compliance permit and regulatory requirements and tools for compliance.

Prepare and maintain waste profiles for assigned facilities and secure approvals from waste disposal facilities. Advise as necessary completion of manifests.

Prepare and submit environmental compliance reports to local, state, and federal agencies for assigned facilities.

Prepare and submit permit applications and conduct permit negotiations with regulatory agencies for assigned facilities.

Conduct environmental regulatory assessments of plant and capital projects to define and secure environmental approvals, including developing an environmental permitting strategy and preparing (or coordinating preparation) of applications.

Monitor agency rulemaking and analyze emerging regulations to determine impact on plant operations.

Maintain and improve compliance assurance tools and overall effectiveness of compliance performance for assigned facilities.

Participate in company-wide work groups and improvement teams as assigned.

Provide EHS leadership with data-driven strategies and abilities to analyze requirements, identify trends, collaborate with stakeholders, and lead cross-functional teams to develop practical solutions that improve EHS performance.

Meet with regulatory agencies and internal company audit personnel during environmental audit/inspection visits to assure compliance.

Required Skills / Abilities:

Experience must be demonstrated at a minimum for Federal and Texas environmental programs, but must have broad enough skills to quickly learn requirements in other locations for assigned facilities.

Experience with defining and securing environmental permits, approvals, and regulatory requirements for facilities in Texas is required.

Experience with Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS).

Training experience is necessary as communicating compliance requirements to facility personnel is an essential element of the position.

Must be computer savvy using existing programs and systems and able to quickly learn and adapt to new ones, including the Microsoft Office Suite (including strong Excel skills), SAP Compliance and Event Management, and various regulatory agency systems for compliance.

Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills along with project management skills and a work process orientation.

Able to work in both field and office settings.

Qualifications:

Approximately 5-7 years of environmental regulatory compliance knowledge and experience in all media, e.g. air, water, waste.

Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline – chemical engineering preferred.

Title V air permit experience is required.

Valid Drivers' License and good driving record required.
