We encourage applications from women, people of color, people with disabilities, veterans, and other candidates from underrepresented backgrounds.The mission of University Advancement is to build relationships through meaningful engagements that foster pride, encourage advocacy, and promote private support for Western Washington University.About the PositionThis position is charged with creating and implementing a comprehensive development program to engage and solicit alumni, parents, friends, community members, business, and civic leaders to achieve the fundraising goals for Western. The Director of Development is responsible for soliciting and closing major gifts of $25,000 or more, and must travel regionally and nationally with a focus on the Puget Sound area.Position Duties and ResponsibilitiesFocus on strategically identifying, engaging, qualifying, cultivating prospects, and soliciting major gifts of $25,000 or more.Travel regionally and nationally to connect personally with constituents.Complete 70-125 substantial contacts and 18-24 major gift solicitations per year.Prepare written proposals, background reports, and other development materials for donor activities.Work collaboratively with members of the Annual Giving, Corporations and Foundation Relations, Donor Relations, Alumni Engagement, Communications, and Special Events teams.Design and implement a comprehensive development plan to increase philanthropic support.Develop effective fundraising strategies in coordination with the Senior Director of Development.Cultivate relationships with diverse communities and individuals.Steward donors by reporting on impact in meaningful ways.Manage a portfolio of 100-150 major and principal gift prospects.Required Qualifications3 years of experience in frontline fundraising or related field.Experience working with or for a non-profit.Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation.Demonstrated proficiency in using technology – Microsoft Office suite, Teams, and Zoom.Ability to travel (including a valid driver’s license) at least once a week within Washington State.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in higher education.Experience with a Customer Relationship Management System (CRM).Proven success in face-to-face asks and closing gifts valued at $25,000 and above.SalaryHiring range for position is $86,766 - $99,782/year.Application InstructionsApplication materials should address your experience related to the position responsibilities and qualifications.Closing Date: 10/12/2024Western Washington University (WWU) is an equal opportunity employer committed to assembling a diverse faculty and staff.
