Data & AnalyticsJob Description:The Data Scientist I provides technical expertise across a broad range of data analysis functions including data modeling, visualization, data profiling, data origin and lineage, report design, and other specialized data management functions.This position will play a key role in supporting financial crimes initiatives and ad-hoc investigations. This role involves providing insights, creating reports, and building robust data pipelines. The incumbent will collaborate with the GAML and the Fraud Team to enhance the effectiveness of anti-money laundering (AML) and fraud detection efforts.Depth & Scope:Works autonomously and is accountable for acting as a lead within a specialized business management function and providing strategic work direction to others.Provides seasoned specialized knowledge, advice, and/or guidance to various stakeholders and team members.Creates and builds final datasets from external and internal datamarts for modeling and ad-hoc analysis ensuring the data is clean and verifies the integrity of the data.Applies data mining techniques such as supervised and unsupervised learning to understand meaningful patterns in the data.Uses statistical, econometric, and machine learning techniques on large datasets to measure results and show key trends in the data.Writes, creates, and interprets complex queries (SQL, HIVE, R, SAS, Python Spark, etc.) for standard as well as ad hoc data analysis purposes.Collaborates and works closely with cross-functional business partners and internal analytics team members to identify gaps and business problems.Leads the design, development, and implementation of advanced models and creates meaningful presentations and analyses that tell a story focused on analytical insights.Synthesizes data and analytical methods into actionable business strategy and communicates findings to business partners and executive management team.Focuses on short to medium-term issues (e.g., 6-12 months).Undertakes and completes a variety of complex projects and initiatives requiring specialist knowledge and/or the integration of cross-functional processes within own area of expertise.Oversees and/or independently performs tasks from end to end for supported LOB or business units.Education & Experience:Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Operational Research, Applied Math, Engineering, or Science (Master's Degree Preferred).5+ years relevant experience.Proficient PC skills including a strong competency in MS Excel and PowerPoint, and a variety of PC-based analytical and reporting software packages.Working experience in the knowledge, utilization, and adoption of the latest tools (i.e., machine learning) and technologies (i.e., Hadoop) in big data and advanced analytics.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to interpret data and draw conclusions.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Preferred Qualifications:Strong analytical skills with experience in detecting patterns and anomalies in large datasets.Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.Experience in building and optimizing data models to support financial crime analysis.Proficiency in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines.Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes to ensure data integrity and accessibility.Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and PowerBI.Knowledge of AML regulations and best practices.Experience in fraud detection methodologies and technologies.Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.Ability to present findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Experience with machine learning and statistical modeling is a plus.Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance in financial services.Who We Are:TD is one of the world's leading global financial institutions and is the fifth largest bank in North America by branches/stores.
