The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) seeks applicants for a Research Scientist Senior. Prospective applicants should be interested in multidisciplinary transportation research and working on a broad range of topics. The Center performs research in several areas for local, state, and federal transportation agencies. Research foci include highway design; project management; pavement design and maintenance; infrastructure assessment and roadway forensic analysis; construction management; highway and infrastructure safety; structural engineering and preservation; intelligent transportation systems; economic, financial, and policy dimensions of transportation; traffic operations; and environmental analysis.Prospective applicants should have at least 1 – 3 years of research experience in one or more of the areas listed above. The Research Scientist Senior may supervise one or more research scientists or technicians, and must have demonstrated abilities in planning, scoping, and managing complex research projects. The Research Scientist Senior is expected to assist program managers and KTC leadership with building lasting partnerships with our clients, transportation organizations, and agencies. They should have some experience in preparing research reports, grant proposals, and materials that facilitate technology transfer. Candidates with less research experience or knowledge outside of the areas listed above may be considered on a case-by-case basis based on their qualifications.KTC is a vibrant, dynamic, and collegial environment where salary and benefits packages are competitive with the private sector.
