The Payroll Specialist will be responsible for processing and managing payroll using Workday software. This role ensures that employees are compensated accurately and timely, in compliance with federal and state regulations, and company policies.

Payroll Specialist Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing:
    • Accurately process and manage bi-weekly or monthly payroll using Workday for all employees, including hourly, salaried, and overtime payments.
    • Ensure proper calculation of wages, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Compliance:
    • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.
    • Prepare and submit payroll taxes and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
    • Assist in the preparation of W-2s and other payroll-related tax documents.
  • Timekeeping and Attendance:
    • Collaborate with supervisors and managers to ensure the accurate and timely submission of employee time records.
    • Review and verify employee attendance and working hours.
  • Benefits and Deductions:
    • Manage and apply benefit deductions, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and other voluntary deductions.
    • Ensure garnishments, levies, and child support payments are accurately processed.
  • Workday System Administration:
    • Utilize Workday software to manage employee payroll data, update records, and generate reports.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve payroll discrepancies within Workday.
    • Ensure all payroll-related data is entered and maintained accurately in Workday.
  • Audit and Reporting:
    • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation for auditing purposes.
    • Generate custom payroll reports as requested by management or auditors.
  • Employee Support:
    • Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, taxes, and timesheets.
    • Assist with payroll-related employee onboarding and offboarding tasks.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Identify opportunities for process improvements in payroll operations and contribute to efficiency initiatives.
    • Stay updated on new Workday functionalities and payroll regulations.
