$21.00 - $28.00 HourlyPOSITION SUMMARY:

This position will be under the direct supervision of the Teen Director and will be directly responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring, and enriching environment for the teens enrolled in the YMCA program. The Site Coordinator is responsible for the overall supervision of the YMCA Afterschool Program, ensuring that all standards, policies, and procedures set by the YMCA of Honolulu are met. The Site Coordinator supports the Teen Leaders in the daily supervision of program participants and provides guidance and assistance to them in the planning, development, and implementation of program components and activities.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:

Manage the overall program operation and supervision of participants while adhering to program policies and standard operating procedures.Research and develop new creative programs, workshops, activities, and engagement methods to enhance the overall program that focuses on Teen Development.Communicate effectively, consistently, and professionally with participants, parents, co-workers, and others associated with the program such as HIDOE and DHS contacts.Create a positive work/learning environment for staff and program participants that encourages hard work, effective communication, and a sense of camaraderie.Facilitate programming that invites exploration, promotes positive play, and welcomes teens in an all-inclusive environment.Evaluate the program quality, implementing necessary remedial steps when necessary.Maintain accurate participant records and documentation as assigned, following program requirements.Serve as a role model by relating to program participants through respect and understanding, and providing guidance toward positive teen development.Ensure staff are planning and implementing age-appropriate learning experiences and maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.Schedule and secure proper staff coverage for work hours, communicating regularly with the Teen Director about challenges that may arise.Attend and facilitate general and site staff meetings and training sessions and give input. Be open to criticism, suggestions, and training from other staff.Assist with the responsibility to ensure all facilities, equipment, and supplies at the site are maintained, organized, and clean.Ensure that all staff and participants are respectful of facility/property, and that all of their rules and expectations are followed.Work in conjunction with the programs/initiatives of Membership/Facilities/Aquatics Directors when the program takes place at the branch or in shared spaces.Respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors, and respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.Demonstrate a working knowledge of YMCA mission, core values, purpose and goals, policies, and YMCA standards; ensure the program meets the highest standards of excellence.Assist with the YMCA of Honolulu’s Annual Campaign.Perform other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

Skills/Knowledge Required:Understanding of working with teens, group management, and group work.Experience engaging middle and high school youth in recreation, leadership development, service learning, civic engagement, college and career pathways, and other personal development areas.Exercise mature judgment and sound decision-making.Possess a collaborative and flexible mindset that elevates youth voice and provides opportunities in areas where the candidate may not have expertise.Lead by example, serving as a model of professionalism and competency for peers and employees.Customer service oriented with strong interpersonal skills, well organized and multi-task oriented.Work a flexible schedule to meet program staffing and planning needs.Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Windows 10 and above, Canva, preferred.Ability to operate other software applications as required.Education/Training:At least 20 years of age.High school diploma or equivalent required.Two years of college and/or at least two years of experience in school-age programs.Completion of all mandatory Teen Leader and Site Coordinator training.CPR, AED, and First Aid certified (training available upon hire).Bus Driver’s certification required within 3 months of hire, which includes a valid driver’s license and clean traffic abstract.This position and its pay are dependent on the availability of funds and continuation of the contracted program. The current contract provides programming for June 2024 - July 2025 with the likely possibility of extension for an additional two years (until July 2027).
