Job Summary:

The Preschool Assistant Director who will help oversee the daily operations and administration of the preschool program. This role should uphold the core values of the preschool with pride and ensure that the preschool meets the minimum standards set by the community care licensing while promoting and encouraging higher professional standards. The Assistant Director should be experienced in the field of Early Childhood Development.Job Responsibilities:The desire to make a difference in the lives of others and in the lives of our children enrolled with us.A professional and positive attitude. You MUST love to give hugs, wipe boogers, hold a crying toddler, get a dental inspection by a two-year-old, have pretend conversation “on the phone” into a block, and most of all eat pretend food like a champ!Oversee the daily operations of the Preschool; able to oversee the preschool program in the Director’s absence.Knowledge and implementation of Title 22 regulations or willingness and ability to learn quickly.Recruit, train, and oversee/manage staff.Respond to inquiries and tours to provide information to prospective families, maintain enrollment waitlist, and complete the registration process with families, in the absence of the Director and/or Business Manager.Maintain children and staff forms, documentation, and files.Maintain and schedule necessary maintenance and upkeep of school grounds.Maintain and oversee quality care and programming for all classrooms and children.Provide customer service and maintain overall satisfaction of staff and families.Adhere to school policies and procedures; implement changes as needed.Manage financial transactions, working budgets, and fundraising, in the absence of the Director.Schedule and provide on-going training and professional development for teachers, in the absence of the Director.Oversee the planning and preparation of school events with the Director.Additional duties as determined by the needs of the preschool.Job Qualifications:Early Childhood Development education and/or related field (12 ECE units; additional preferred).Child Care Administration education (3-6 units).Prefer at least 2 years’ experience in Administration.Prefer at least 2 years’ preschool classroom teaching experience.Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and administrative skills.Must be able to speak English clearly and be able to communicate with other staff and parents clearly. Spanish speaking is a plus.A Statement signed by a physician that the applicant is in good health and free from health problems which would have a harmful effect on children or co-workers or would interfere with effective functioning.Must be able to pass FBI Fingerprint, DOJ and Child Abuse index background check.Certification in California Childcare First Aid & CPR.Physical & Environmental Requirements:With or without reasonable accommodation this position requires:Extensive standing and walking; sitting on the floor and on low (12”) chairs.Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling.Lifting and carrying children extensively in the infant/toddler program; less frequently in the preschool program, but the children are heavier.Frequent moving of equipment (Cots, tables, etc.).Pushing children in buggies, strollers, and walking for considerable periods of time.The necessity of being outdoors in varying weather conditions.Exposure to unpleasant odors and fluids caused by vomit (occasional) and bodily elimination.Relatively frequent exposure to loud noises (baby crying, toys falling and other common occurrences of children at play).
