Position Summary The Salvation Army of Fergus Falls is doing the most good by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families in need. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include short and long-term case management; food, clothing, utility, rent, and housing support; youth programming, and connections to community partners. The Youth Development and Program Assistant assists with youth programming and activities. When youth programming is less active throughout the year, the Assistant will support fundraising efforts and assist with cleaning the building. $12.00/hour, 15 hours/week 622 E Vernon Ave, Fergus Falls, MN 56537 Essential Functions (Approximate time spent) Assist with planning and leading youth programs, events, trips, and activities focusing on spiritual, educational, recreational, and relational development. (65%) Assist with seasonal and special events including the Red Kettle Campaign and Angel Tree. (15%) Participate in Worship and Christian education programs including supporting leadership with planning and teaching. (10%) Maintain up-to-date, accurate participant information. (5%) Perform custodial duties to maintain clean, tidy, and sanitary conditions throughout the building. (5%) Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience in youth programming, ministry, or social services is required. Must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and familiarity with The Salvation Army as a church. Valid driver's license, meet MVR driver's qualifications, and pass background checks. Competencies Flexible interpersonal and communication skills. High level of honor in dealing with confidential information. Works with integrity, valuing honesty, and diligence. Proficient with PC, Microsoft Office, databases, and standard office equipment. Working Conditions Moderate physical work and must be able to lift 50 pounds required. Professional environment; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment. Must be able to drive, sit, communicate clearly, and work in person or on the phone. Work hours will include evenings and occasional weekends. Supervisory Responsibilities None. Driving/Travel Requirements Regular local driving using an agency vehicle as well as occasional longer drives.
