Job Summary:

Assist

O

perator in production

of heat-set web

printed materials and maintenance of

web

presses

while

continually learn

ing

machine operations and printing technique.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Read and understand work order

verifying

correct

substrate

, bind type, ink color, and run lengths.

Order

substrate while considering

the needs of the

oncoming

shift.

Set up

s

tacker

and

b

undler to send

adequate

and

well

identified

bundles to

b

indery

.

Understand

substrate

– weights,

PPI

, size, grain

direction

, coating, marking and storage

Load

correct

substrate

into the machine while tracking slab

-

off,

waste

consumption and return weights.

Learn all phases of the press operation

Ensure bundles conform to

b

indery needs including proper identification

.

Be sure all

waste

is

disposed of properly including

printed and blank

substrate.

See that all skids are safely stacked and wrapped before leaving

p

ress

area.

Learn to interpret the information on the work order and its contents.

Assist Operator as needed.

Run press

effectively

in

temporary

absence of

Operator

.

Assist

maintenance personnel with machine repair

.

Exercise initiative, ask questions and look for ways of improving

productivity

.

Keep

area

safe and clean

.

Adequately c

ommunicate with

oncoming

shift

Perform end of shift duties leaving area ready for

oncoming

shift.

Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

High school Diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.

Ability to read and

comprehend

instructions

.

Ability to read and interpret documents such as work orders,

workplace

and

safety rules,

operating

and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Basic math skills, add subtract, and ability to use a measuring device.

Basic

problem-solving

skills.

Desired Skills and Abilities:

Ability to work with the following software packages or programs:

Microsoft Office, Flex and

PrintStream

at beginning level

Effective email and electronic communication skills are

preferred

Ability to work with the following tools or machinery

Pallet

jack

Paper Turning Disc

Knives: razor, hand, slab-off skives

Pallet wrap holder

Vacuum lift

Plate bender

Plate carts

Hand tools

Grease guns/ air hose nozzles

Shaft handling cart

Physical Requirements

Must be able to

lift up

to 50 lbs.
