JOB SUMMARY
Reporting directly to the Internal Audit (IA) Director, responsible for supporting the IA Director in managing the Internal Audit Division and acts in a lead capacity in their absence. Schedules and performs complex financial, operational, contract, compliance, and assurance audits for internal departments and vendors while maintaining independence and objectivity.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED
Assists in supervising and coordinating day-to-day operationsPerforms review of all draft audit reports prior to going to the IA Director for final approvalCommunicates regularly with county personnel, management, and elected officials in support of audit activityPerforms advanced full charge audits of essential county offices and vendors using proven audit theoryPerforms personnel management, including hiring, termination, employee recognition, and disciplinary actionConducts quarterly and annual performance evaluations and makes pay decisionsReviews and approves timesheets and coordinates time offProvides direction and training to new auditors as they advance in their designated roleAssists IA Director in creating budgetReviews and verifies bank reconciliations along with reports completed by fee collecting offices for accuracyDevelops audit programs to adequately identify audit objectives/methodologiesResearches and applies knowledge of local, state, and federal government statutes and other legislative changes as they apply to audit responsibilitiesEvaluates and maps processes while identifying control strengths and weaknesses within the office with the goal of improving processesMaintains responsibilities for fieldwork including sampling, transaction testing, data analysis, and tracing fundsAssists county staff with various audit-related issuesAssists with gathering data from various county offices for external auditorsAssists in developing and executing the approved annual audit planReviews and revises audit schedules for direct reportsServes as administrator for audit management softwareServes as back-up to the IA Director and Contract AuditorAttends all meetings and trainings, as requiredPerforms advanced projects as assignedORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and six (6) years of relevant audit experienceTwo (2) years of supervisory experienceWorking knowledge of auditing standards, accounting principles, cash handling practices, and contractsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, audit management software, and financial systemsWorking knowledge of local or county governmentsLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
