Job Description: United's Digital technology team is looking for an experienced Usability/Accessibility tester to join our Digital Reliability team. As an Accessibility Tester at United, you will work collaboratively with our Agile/Scrum teams responsible for testing our digital products for compliance with accessibility standards, such as WCAG 2.0. You will also be responsible for writing and maintaining accessibility testing documentation, such as test plans, test cases, and bug reports. The ideal candidate will have experience with a variety of accessibility testing tools and methodologies (e.g., VoiceOver, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, ZoomText, TalkBack, Speak to Me, axe DevTools), as well as a strong understanding of accessibility standards and how they apply to web, mobile, and software applications. •Understand and apply accessibility guidelines (WCAG, Section 508, ADA, AODA) to United Digital products •Perform manual (an or automated) testing of digital products for compliance with accessibility standards •Be able to describe accessibility issues and recommendations for resolving same in bug reports to developers •Retest products after fixes have been implemented to ensure that issues have been properly addressed •Knowledge of the latest accessibility technologies and trends •Educate team members on accessibility best practices •Advocate for the inclusion of accessibility considerations in all phases of product development •Participate in usability testing to provide insights on how people with accessibility challenges use United products •Assist with the creation of accessibility-related documentation, such as policies, procedures, and user guides •Provide training and awareness sessions on accessibility topics to internal and external audiences •Design and write manual front-end test scripts for assigned workflows to validate design and configuration against defined requirements •Analyze, resolve, and report on testing status, gaps, and issues to leadership during various testing cycles •Build collaborative relationships with internal and external project stakeholders to achieve business objectives related to testing activities, defect investigations, issues, and concerns related to assigned testing and products •Maintain testing documentation and artifacts for each test as proof of validation. Qualifications Required Applicants for the Accessibility Tester role are required to have these qualifications: •Knowledge of digital accessibility and inclusion •Knowledge of regulations related to digital accessibility (e.g., Section 508, ADA, WCAG) •Experience using accessibility evaluation tools and frameworks •Experience using assistive technologies (e.g., VoiceOver, JAWS, Dragon Naturally Speaking, ZoomText, TalkBack, Speak to Me, axe DevTools) •5 + years of combined related work experience and completed higher education and some level of Accessbility certification -Must be eligible to work without sponsorship
Preferred Applicants with the following qualifications will be preferred: •Knowledge of web technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript and ARIA) •Professional training in using assistive technologies •Experience conducting usability tests that include participants with accessibility challenges •Has experience using assistive technology working on products or similar products •Experience using automation tools
