About the Role:The senior data analyst provides essential support to the manager, playing a key role in maintaining and optimizing various software systems. The senior data analyst will oversee the preparation of reports and the analysis of data to drive informed business decisions, ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of NYSTEC's data infrastructure. The senior data analyst is responsible for ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and security across the organization while resolving data-related issues. In collaboration with the business intelligence manager, the senior data analyst will mentor and train staff and contribute to the development of efficient processes within the department.

Key Responsibilities

Act as the primary backup to the manager.

Perform comprehensive data analytics using business intelligence (BI) tools/software to support business objectives.

Collaborate with key stakeholders to identify needs and report outputs to clearly answer questions and drive decisions.

Address and resolve data-related questions, ensuring that all business needs are met through accurate data retrieval and interpretation.

Proactively troubleshoot technical issues, including software errors, data discrepancies, and system alerts, to minimize operational disruptions.

Update and maintain financial and project accounting software to ensure accurate data management and smooth operational workflows.

Develop reports in the human resource management (HRM) system.

Provide guidance and mentorship to both new and current staff, offering support and training as needed.

Implement and maintain consistent data standards to ensure accuracy and data security.

Collaborate with the manager on monitoring and analyzing department work to drive the development of more efficient processes and better resource utilization.

Lead BI team software enhancement implementations.

Facilitate training on various BI tools and software across NYSTEC.

Maintain an in depth understanding of current and future data structures.

Document and update all procedures required to complete areas of responsibility.

Exercise a high degree of confidentiality.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Power BI (M code and DAX or equivalent visualization tool).

Demonstrated expertise with data governance.

Proven experience teaching fellow teammates.

Data Literacy:

Demonstrates expert proficiency in leveraging data to generate actionable insights across diverse business functions.

Identifies, applies, and adapts complex data analytic methodologies to solve multifaceted problems.

Analyzes complex datasets to uncover patterns and insights that are not immediately apparent.

Uses advanced software tools to efficiently manipulate, clean, and prepare large and complex datasets for sophisticated analyses.

Creates compelling and clear data visualizations to effectively communicate insights to diverse stakeholders, including executive leadership.

Leverages extensive experience in sourcing, integrating, and harmonizing data from multiple, varied sources to provide a comprehensive view that supports strategic decision-making.

Critically evaluates data quality and relevance, ensuring that analyses are based on the most pertinent and accurate information.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Microsoft Fabric and other reporting tools, software, and applications.

Microsoft Fabric analytics engineer certification.

Microsoft Power BI data analyst certification.

Education and Experience

A bachelor's degree in a professional specialty, preferably in computer science, information technology/systems, finance/accounting, math/statistics, or a similar discipline, and five years of related experience, including experience with report writing and technical requirements analysis.

An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.

The pay range for this position is $79,793.00 to $109,716.00 per year.
