Its 1,365-acre (5.52 km2) campus is Georgia's second-largest public university in area.Fort Valley State University is an affirmative action, equal opportunity institution and does not discriminate against applicants, students, or employees on the basis of race, gender, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or marital or veteran status.JOB SUMMARY:The Network Support Specialist will ensure the stable operation of the enterprise computer network and implement and/or facilitate the initiatives of Chief Information OfficerESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, develop, install, configure, maintain, support, and optimize all network hardware, software and communication linksRecommend, schedule, and perform network improvements, upgrades and repairsDevelop, implement, and maintain the policies and procedures for network resource administration and disaster recoveryManage security solutions, including firewall, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systemsInteract and negotiate with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure network products and servicesImplement other job duties as directedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Associates or Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or closely related field; equivalent training and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
