Protein Purification Contractor
Full-time bench work role

Summary:
Seeking a highly motivated and experienced research scientist to join our Protein Sciences group at "" Chicago area. The candidate will be working in a highly dynamic group to provide protein purification support for a variety of small molecule drug discovery programs. The candidate should have protein purification and characterization experience and be proficient in chromatography.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform purification of recombinant proteins using chromatographic methods.
• Characterize protein with SDS-PAGE, western blot, and other biophysical methods.
• Continuously drive for improved process performance; Provides scientific insight to overcome issues (i.e., solubility, purity, heterogeneity, yield).
• Ensure that experiments are planned and coordinated cross- functionally, as well as executed effectively.

• Handle issues with a sense of urgency when required.
• Authoring associated technical reports and documents.
• Work independently with team spirit. Accountable for technical performance and results of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS or MS in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology, or other relevant biological sciences.
• Experience in protein expression and purification. Familiarity with the AKTA system is a plus.
• Prior experience in supporting protein X-ray crystallography, and biophysical characterizations of proteins is preferred, but not required.
• Good problem-solving and communication skills.
• The ability to build open and collaborative relationships in a multidisciplinary environment are essential.
• Good record keeping and able to efficiently manage several projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
