Position Overview:

We are looking for an experienced attorney with a robust civil litigation background and a passion for seeking justice on behalf of survivors. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated professional, capable of managing the litigation process independently while contributing to our supportive, mission-driven firm culture. You will handle complex and sensitive cases, working closely with survivors to guide them through the legal process with empathy and expertise. Salary up to $180K depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Compassionate Client Representation: Provide empathetic, client-centered legal advocacy for survivors of sexual abuse, ensuring they are supported and informed throughout their case.
  •  Full Litigation Management: Lead all stages of litigation, from case evaluation through trial. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and legal strategies tailored to each unique case.
  •  Discovery Process: Oversee all aspects of discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, managing document production, and conducting thorough fact-gathering.
  • Depositions: Conduct and defend depositions of witnesses, experts, and adverse parties, with a focus on collecting key evidence to build strong cases.
  • Client Communication: Maintain clear, regular communication with clients, ensuring they understand their legal options, case progress, and next steps at every stage.
  • Team Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff to foster a cohesive team environment. Mentor junior attorneys and staff as needed, contributing to their growth.

Experience and Qualifications:

  •  Legal Expertise: Minimum of 7 years of civil litigation experience, with a strong track record of representing plaintiffs in personal injury or liability cases. Experience handling sensitive matters, such as sexual abuse cases, is highly desirable.
  •  Litigation Skills: Proven ability to manage complex litigation, including trials, depositions, and court appearances. Strong advocacy skills are essential.
  •  Empathy and Professionalism: Ability to work with survivors of sexual abuse with compassion, respect, and sensitivity, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism.
  •  Strategic Thinker: Adept at developing effective legal strategies, with a deep understanding of litigation procedures and trial processes.
  •  Time Management: Ability to effectively manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities with minimal supervision.
  •  Licensure: Must be an active member, in good standing, of the Maryland State Bar.
