The Grant Accountant will be responsible for the financial administration, management, and reporting of grants received by the organization. This position requires ensuring compliance with grant agreements, monitoring grant budgets, and providing financial analysis and reporting.

Key Responsibilities: Grant Accountant

  • Grant Financial Management: Manage the financial operations of grants, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Budgeting: Assist in the development of grant budgets, track spending, and ensure expenditures align with approved budgets.
  • Grant Reporting: Prepare and submit financial reports to grantors and funding agencies, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
  • Compliance: Ensure all grant expenditures comply with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the specific terms and conditions of each grant.
  • Audit Preparation: Support the preparation for annual audits related to grants, providing documentation and explanations as needed.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile grant activity in the general ledger, ensuring accurate posting of revenues and expenses related to each grant.
  • Invoicing and Billing: Manage invoicing and reimbursement requests for grant-funded activities.
  • Internal Communication: Collaborate with program managers and project leads to ensure alignment of grant activities with financial reporting and compliance.
  • Cash Flow Monitoring: Track and report on grant cash flows, providing regular updates to management.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain organized and comprehensive records for each grant, including documentation of expenses, communications with grantors, and grant agreements.
  • Financial Analysis Analyze and interpret grant financial data to provide insights and recommendations for improving grant management practices.

Qualifications Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in grant accounting or financial management, preferably within a non-profit or public sector setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and familiarity with federal and state grant regulations.
  • Strong communication skills

Salary range 65k-80k based off experience level.
