Title: Project Manager (Engineer) - Combustion Turbines (Hybrid)

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Will be traveling to multiple sites where the Combustion Turbine engines are based of these are 2-3 hours' drive one way; Might involve Traveling 2-3 days per week at times, might need to stay overnight in a hotel/motel

Needs to be Local to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Non-local candidates must be willing to relocate on their own

This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent both in the office and at project sites.

This is a job family (Senior Engineer/Principal Engineer) posting where the experience of the selected candidate will determine the level offered.

Job Summary:
The Combustion Turbines Engineer provides subject matter expertise, engineering support, project management, contractor oversight and technical work direction to the fleet of combustion turbine generator units. In coordination with power plant personnel and others, the engineer will provide the planning, execution, oversight and documentation of unit outages, periodic major maintenance events (such as combustion inspections, hot gas path inspections, major inspections and overhauls), routine inspections and component repairs, and condition monitoring. This role supports the equipment reliability, safety, environmental and regulatory compliance programs in addition to Power Generation business unit initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for field testing, engineering analysis, and specialized programs that deal with plant equipment performance, availability, and operating/maintenance costs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational and maintenance problems providing engineering support by formulating and implementing technical solutions.
  • Compile and analyze power plant operating data to determine ways to improve plant efficiencies through operating and equipment changes and upgrades.
  • Manage capital projects within our power generation fleet territory, which could include gas storage, wind, solar, and fossil fuel sites.
  • Oversee contractors working on projects.
  • Develop project budgets, schedules, and reporting of financial performance
  • Develop project authorization requests (PAR's) and attend senior leadership project team (SPT) meetings as required.
  • Lead scope development to analyze and recommend design options, recommend systems, components, and materials along with related cost estimates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 5 years of prior power generation experience, including specialized knowledge of combustion turbine technology, rotating equipment and management of related unit operation and maintenance activities
  • Experience with GE frame 7FA/7EA heavy duty combustion turbines and Prati and Whitney FT4 aero derivatives

Experience:

  • Needs a Principal Engineer, 12-15 years and 25 years' experience
  • Need to be strong with Combustion Turbines and Project Management, both areas plus also should have GE frame 7FA/7EA heavy duty combustion turbines
  • Hands-on experience with Combustion Turbines is a Must
  • Will consider candidates with strong technical expertise and lesser PM experience; they can train on PM areas
  • High-level technical expertise
  • Experience with GE frame 7FA/7EA and FT4 aero derivatives
  • The person will come in and join the PM group and then in 6-10 months will transfer to the Combustion Turbine Group
  • They have CTs that will come online in 5-6 years so this person will help them with that
  • They can also have 8 years' experience plus strong Combustion Turbines experience
  • These are Gas Turbine projects and thus project costs can get sizeable
  • No Direct Reports but as a PM there would be some contractors working under them
  • Projects will be ranging from a few hundred thousand to 10 million USD or even more
  • Interview:

    Initial phone screen and then a Panel of 2 people interview, which might be an In-person
