Job Description :

Position Overview:

  • We are seeking a dedicated Human Factors Engineer (HFE) to join the Client Front Line Care RandD team.
  • The Human Factors Engineering team supports the global product development and advanced technology teams by analyzing, designing, and evaluating systems, products and user interfaces with the goal of improving human performance and safety by applying principles of human factors and ergonomics.
  • Our Human Factors engineers work collaboratively with stakeholders and customers to research, design and implement safe, intuitive, and competitively differentiated user experience solutions for clinicians and patients.
  • We are looking for someone who is comfortable working with members of our HF team as well collaborating effectively with our cross functional/cross location project teams and be able to function with limited supervision.
  • An HFE in this role will consult and guide development teams in some of the following areas: Applying regulatory standards to medical device and software development, designing Human Factors and usability evaluations, developing protocols, running studies, and creating documentation that meets regulatory standards and those of our Quality Management System.
  • They must demonstrate a passion for new product development, strong collaboration, and communication skills.
  • We are looking for a creative problem solver who is competent in evaluating, selecting, and applying standard Human Factors principles and processes to recognize, understand and solve user needs and use related hazards.
  • Client's goal is to empower clinicians and health systems with the tools to make a difference in patients and clinician's lives.
  • We are looking for someone who is passionate about this work, who empathizes with the functional and psychological needs of the people who experience our products firsthand. Someone who approaches problems with an open mind and willingness to test and refine their ideas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for project teams in applying Human Factors standards and best practices to the Cleint Product Development process.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in applying regulatory standards to Medical Device and SW development. Stay current with industry trends and advancements in human factors engineering.
  • Supports creation of user needs, claims and critical tasks during product requirements phase.
  • Supports analysis of use errors and their potential impacts for teams to improve product and interface designs including leading multi-functional team discussions as required.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and user-centered design activities to ensure our products meet customers' needs and mitigate risk effectively.
  • Design, plan, execute, analyze, and report using qualitative and quantitative research as part of formative study evaluation which may include but are not limited to heuristic evaluation, expert review, simulated use studies, and actual use studies.
  • Tracks day-to-day status of project tasks, issues, and concerns.
  • Support Human Factors and Usability testing and customer research. Serve as support and/or contact for external vendors and RandD teams during Design Validation and Summative Human Factors Validation.
  • Prepare and present reports, charts, and graphs to communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Must be able to balance the needs of different stakeholders within Client from hardware and software Engineering to Marketing, Regulatory, Clinical Affairs, project management and Design Assurance.

What you will bring:

  • Detail oriented with strong organization and time management skills and the ability to multi-task across a diverse scope of responsibilities, projects and people.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to facilitate and work effectively in diverse, multi-functional teams.
  • Comfortable with direct interaction with medical professionals in clinical environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Continuous improvement / lean experience or interest desired.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.

Required Background:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher and 4 years of experience in one or more of the following:
  • Human Factors Engineering, Human Computer Interaction, User Experience Design, Biomedical Science or Engineering
