Redwood Credit Union is looking for a Vice President of HR, Training and Talent Acquisition who will be responsible for strategically leading the Employee Relations and Development team to enhance Member and team member satisfaction, organizational performance, and further the Mission and Vision of Redwood Credit Union under the direction of the SVP of People.
Essential Functions
Originate and lead human resource practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasizes empowerment, quality, productivity and standards, goal attainment, and strategic talent management for the ongoing development of a superior workforce.
Participate in the creation of a strategic workforce plan for the organization to provide a framework for the sourcing and development of talent and enable the delivery of the business strategy.
Participate in the development of corporate strategy for the organization, providing functional leadership and challenge to test the viability of the strategy and contributing creative ideas and insights to support the strategy formation process.
Evaluate and advise the Leadership Team on the impact of long-range plans for new programs/strategies and regulatory action and their impact to attract, motivate, develop, and retain team members.
Actively participate in the development and implementation of strategic, tactical program and operational planning.
Department Management
Lead the Employee Relations team members to include setting goals, work assignments and productivity to ensure superior service and achievement of goals.
Implement plans to attract and retain a high caliber and diverse workforce to align with strategic plan.
Research, recommend, and implement annual salary planning, compensation training and communications, merit increase matrix, differential policies and procedures, and other total cash/total compensation efforts administered by Employee Relations department.
Ensure compensation and benefits programs are in line with company philosophy to attract, retain and reward team members, and to ensure both internal and external parity.
Plan, develop, implement, and deliver ongoing leadership and management trainings to foster basic personnel planning and management for the organization’s leadership teams (Leadership Team and Assistant Managers).
Utilize forecasting and planning processes to identify capital and technology acquisitions and program development opportunities.
Develop policies, procedures, programs, and implement these upon approval.
Develop human resources and training strategies.
Represent Redwood Credit Union to outside entities such as examiners, auditors, vendors, and support companies.
Participate in and represent Redwood Credit Union at various internal and external functions events.
Planning
Translate Redwood Credit Union's strategic business plans into human resource and training strategies and operational plans.
Develop staffing strategies and implementation plans to identify talent within and outside the Credit Union.
Develop progressive and proactive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives, and rewards for effective performance.
Develop strategies to allow the Credit Union to embrace applicants and team members of all backgrounds and to permit the full development and performance of all team members.
Develop and lead human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent gaps and develop specific programs that fill the gaps including talent management through proper succession planning, training and development, and general business development knowledge enhancement.
Program Management
Develop appropriate policies and programs for effective management of team members including employee relations, sexual harassment, team member complaints, external education, and career development.
Enhance and/or develop, implement, and ensure compliance with human resources policies and procedures to improve overall operation and effectiveness.
Manage the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources and Talent Acquisition.
Continue improving programs, policies, practices, and processes associated with meeting the strategic and operational human capital issues.
Negotiate contract and coordinate activities of vendors and consultants.
Consult with managers to ensure compliance with current Employee Relations policies, procedures, laws, and related requirements.
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations and ordinances, including AB1825 training, NMLS Registry, NLRA Rights Notice, etc.
Provide leadership and guidance for direct reports.
Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experienced in strategic management and leading a distributed workforce.
Thorough knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of modern human resource management in a financial institution.
Current knowledge of Federal, State, and local labor laws, rules, and regulations.
Current knowledge of national and local economic and competitive trends and condition.
Knowledge of strategic planning focusing on organizational development.
Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
Skill in the operation of a personal computer with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software and Intra/Internet access.
Ability to analyze problems and opportunities, identify and evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, effective approaches.
Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate the achievement of goals, objectives, and work plans.
Ability to lead, motivate, mentor, train and supervise team members.
Ability to direct a variety of diverse functions simultaneously and prioritize.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with a diverse group of people including Board Members, regulators, Members, team members, attorneys, vendors, and other parties.
Licenses and Certifications
Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) preferred.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, sit, walk, twist, and turn.
Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Ability to use a computer keyboard and calculator.
Work environment is indoors, majority of the time is spent sitting at a desk.
The ideal candidate has a combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources or similar, with a minimum of twelve years of human resource management experience in a financial institution, with at least four years of that experience at a senior management level.
Base starting range: $183,476 to $220,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Our base salary starting range is based on scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, and internal peer equity.
