Position Description Overview

Under the direction of the System Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Control, you will assist with the development, implementation, and oversight of the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) policies and procedures, in collaboration with health system and hospital leadership and relevant stakeholders. The Medical Director is responsible for overall quality, safety, regulatory activities, and performance excellence.

Roles and Responsibility

The primary role will be to serve as the Associate Medical Director of Infection Prevention and Associate Medical Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship for Henry Ford Health. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Improving and reducing hospital-acquired infection (HAI) rates.Providing subject matter expertise in IPC, healthcare epidemiology, and antimicrobial stewardship.Optimizing utilization of diagnostic testing and antimicrobials with subsequent implementation of IPC and diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship process improvement efforts.Development and implementation of IPC and ASP principles and policies, particularly regarding the reduction of multi-drug resistant organisms (MDROs), outbreak response, and special pathogens.Interpretation of epidemiologic and antimicrobial use data, and improvement of data infrastructures and reporting in compliance with National Health Safety Network (NHSN), CMS, and other internal metrics.Assisting in coordination of multidisciplinary initiatives.Participating in committees.Educating and mentoring staff.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an M.D. degree, or equivalent, from an approved LCME medical school and have satisfactorily completed an Internal Medicine residency program, and an Infectious Diseases fellowship program from an ACGME accredited program.Candidates must be eligible for Michigan medical licensure and be board-certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease.Supervisory and/or leadership experience, including clinical mentoring and coaching expertise, in a healthcare setting.Two plus (2+) years of experience in ASP and/or IPC with strong/expert working knowledge of infectious diseases, data collection, and/or basic statistics.Strong leadership skills with the ability to advance IPC and ASP.Ability to function effectively and drive the creation and management of projects and programs to successful outcomes in a highly matrixed organization.Excellent interpersonal communication skills and presentation skills for both clinical and non-clinical audiences, in group settings or one-on-one.Expertise in establishing physician relationships combined with the ability to manage an interdisciplinary team while appreciating and fostering collegial and peer participation from all disciplines.Advocate for organizational values and commitment to religious, racial, and gender equity and diversity.Personal characteristics of integrity, maturity, and honesty aligned with the Mission and Values of the Henry Ford Health.A genuine excitement related to working in an integrated system that is redefining the way health care delivery should evolve.
