To effectively and efficiently assist the dentist in providing dental care to patients and to promote Familia Dental's culture and mission and values.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesAlthough state regulations vary, responsibilities may include: Maintaining accurate records of patients' oral health histories and treatment progress. Ensuring that all orthodontic instruments and equipment are properly sterilized before each use. Keeping patients' mouths dry during orthodontic procedures by using a suction hose as needed. Taking intraoral X-rays of patients' mouths. Taking photographs of patients' teeth to aid the Orthodontist in developing treatment plans and to document patient progress. Taking dental molds of patients' teeth for the fabrication of customized mouth guards and retainers. Removing and replacing wires, coil springs, donuts, and elastic bands. Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and braces aftercare.Qualifications/ Skill Sets Exceptional customer/patient service skills Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills Ability to read, write, speak and understand information and effectively present information one-on-one with patients. Basic computer knowledge and experience with dental management software experience. Denticon experience is plus. Ability to work in fast paced, patient-focused environment. Detail oriented. ortho assistants must be aware of and follow state specific rules and protocols. Listening skills. Ortho Assistants must be able to listen to patients and other healthcare workers, and follow directions from a Dentist or supervisor. Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively Organizational and time management skills Previous ortho or dental assisting experience preferred but not required. Meet state requirements for Ortho Assistant duties, continuing education or licensure; Basic Life Support (BLS), cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certificate, and radiography certificate.
