Responsibilities
•Assist orthodontists during orthodontic procedures, including placing and removing orthodontic brackets, archwires, and bands •Take accurate scans/impressions of patient's teeth for the creation of orthodontic appliances •Prepare and sterilize orthodontic instruments and equipment •Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and provide instructions for appliance care •Maintain accurate patient records, including treatment charts, progress notes, and digital imaging •Provide exceptional customer service and ensure patient comfort and satisfaction •Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment •Keep up-to-date with the latest orthodontic techniques and procedures through continuing education
Qualifications
•Associate's Degree or a certification from a college or technical school training program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation is required •Must possess a current state license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) •Previous experience working as an orthodontic assistant is highly desirable •Knowledge of orthodontic procedures, instruments, and materials •Proficiency in taking dental impressions and X-rays •Strong organizational and multitasking skills •Excellent interpersonal and communication skills •Ability to work well in a team environment •Attention to detail and commitment to providing high-quality patient care •Basic computer skills and knowledge of dental software
