Maintenance Planner 1st shift

Summary/Purpose

The Maintenance Planner will develop and implement a world-class planning process into all maintenance functions by coordinating all aspects of preventive and predictive maintenance. In addition, the planner will support other projects and maintenance repair work. Develop a program that is integrated with the Maintenance function to ensure it can be sustained over time and demonstrate continual improvement.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the essential duties satisfactorily.
  • Responsible for maintaining the documentation and the integrity of the preventive maintenance program.
  • Assist in identification of skill gaps and delivering or coordinating training for Maintenance Technicians.
  • Assist with ensuring maximum efficiency and minimal downtime of plant equipment targets are achieved through documentation of machine histories to gain knowledge and implement prevention.
  • Develop preventive maintenance and lubrication instructions sheets, and routes and administers scheduling and compliance for PM formats.
  • Plans maintenance projects and provide cost analysis of the projects before work is started.
  • Work closely with Maintenance Supervisor to monitor and track the preventative performance and record the history on equipment. Must promote and maintain excellent record-keeping tracking history with a goal of performance improvement.
  • Support and drive implementation of maintenance systems in the manufacturing areas including the autonomous Total Predictive Maintenance (TPM) implementation.
  • Prepare and report maintenance management metrics (planned hours, PM's completed, backlog hours, downtime events over 1 hour, schedule effectiveness, failure severity and Top 10 Pareto analysis each month). Be capable of explaining the results and identifying performance gaps.
  • Must assist maintenance with tracking and analysis of work order completion.
  • Ensure maintenance associates have the tools necessary to complete preventative maintenance jobs.
  • Must demonstrate excellent computer skills and be able to learn and maneuver within the TMS maintenance management system software.
  • Must be able to identify materials, parts and labor requirements to complete work orders and enter requisitions to obtain parts for equipment maintenance.
  • Able to coordinate equipment shutdowns with production control, manufacturing and maintenance resources.
  • Review machine PM and determine if any updates are needed or if the scheduled PM interval is correct.
  • Focus on continuous improvement related to Preventative Maintenance, Safety, Quality, and Productivity. Work toward the goal of reducing to the point of eliminating reactive maintenance. Work towards 100% uptime of bottleneck equipment.
  • Identify both internal and external customers, understand the needs and expectations of these customers and understand how job performance affects these customers. Work to build great customer relations.
  • May be required to work weekends or 2nd or 3rd shift or holidays at times as needed for special reasons.
  • Maintain a professional work environment and demonstrate good 5S understanding.
  • Maintain good working knowledge of plant policies and procedures.
  • Work with Maintenance Supervisor on asset audits and be prepared to assist in emergency response situations by responding to call-ins, emergency alarms, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • This position does not supervise associates.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
• Must have experience in a maintenance field (industrial / production maintenance preferred) and proven high skill record.
• Proficient computer skills required to maintain records, compile, and manage data (MS Office applications) and use of systems similar to Accruent
• Ability to learn and work in new software systems.
• Proficient skills in coordination and planning with a strong attention to details.
• Ability to effectively present information in one -on-one and in small group situations to auditors, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and multi-task effectively and efficiently.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering Technologies or a related field or equivalent work experience with a minimum of High School Diploma or GED
  • Prior extensive experience with scheduling preventative maintenance jobs

  • Work shift as assigned and overtime is required, as needed.
  • Will be required to do the following throughout the shift: standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching above and below shoulders, moving left to right repetitively, grasping, and fine finger dexterity.
  • May be required to lift during shift up to 40 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required with this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The performance of this position requires exposure to manufacturing areas which require the use of personal protective equipment such as steel toed shoes, safety glasses with side shields.
