Finance Operations Analyst
EM-General-ZSFGFull Time81304BRJob SummaryThe Finance Operations Analyst uses professional accounting concepts as a seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of accounting practices and organizational policies and procedures to resolve complex assignments where analysis of data requires a review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. The incumbent in this position exercises judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices to determine appropriate action. The Finance Operations Analyst receives general instructions, with detailed instructions provided on complex new assignments and initiatives. He/she has contact with internal and external resources on a regular basis. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and making recommendations.
The individual in this position leads departmental procurement and reimbursement processes while supervising staff involved in these processes. He/she participates in activities related to developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, policies, and procedures. He/she manages invoicing for contracted services and deposits.
This position requires the incumbent to have a high degree of initiative, organization, ability to prioritize work and various tasks accurately and independently, discretion, ability to interact with many diverse work styles and to function effectively under the stress of competing priorities; advanced technical skills, attention to detail, efficient use of time management and the ability to perform with little or no supervision are a must.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. DEM administrative and research staff support the work of 90 full-time faculty and 50+ part-time attending physicians, a residency program, fellowship programs and over 300 housestaff and students each year. Our vision is to be the leader in compassionate, innovative and equitable emergency care for all people at all times.
Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting or other related area and at least 3 or more years of relevant experience and/or equivalent experience / trainingThorough knowledge of accounting function and assignmentsAbility to independently gather, organize, and perform accounting-related analysis to complete work assignmentProven ability to effectively present information verbally and in writingThorough knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirementsPreferred QualificationsThorough knowledge of common desktop / web applicationsStrong working knowledge of UCSF financial and timekeeping systems: PeopleSoft, OLPPS, PLUS, PeopleConnect, MyExpense and HBSKnowledge of UC Accounting policies and proceduresKnowledge of UCSF purchasing, travel and entertainment policiesKnowledge of UCSF payroll and human resources managementAbout UCSFThe University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a leading university dedicated to promoting health worldwide through advanced biomedical research, graduate-level education in the life sciences and health professions, and excellence in patient care.
